10/20/22 TYBEE ISLAND
Tybee Island was a small, but delightful island. We first stopped at the Visitor Center and an adjoining space featuring work of local artists. The “ant art” made be think of our friend Bob Robinson.
We drove to the Tybee Lighthouse, and purchased tickets to climb the tower that stands 145 feet and has 178 stairs to climb. Tybee Light is the oldest and tallest lighthouse in Georgia.

Our t-shirt souvenirs – We both actually bought the same color/design. What can we say, we both liked it and didn’t like any others.
I also quickly purchased a scenic lighthouse “Rubics cube” for Barry’s Christmas stocking. 🙂
The Battery across the street was included with our $10 senior ticket, so we went over there to check it out.
We had the rest of the afternoon to explore the beach and more of the island on our bikes.
Barry LOVES riding his bike on beaches. My tires aren’t the big, fat one like his bike, so it can be a little dicier for me. But, today, I really enjoyed it, too! It was challenging a few times, but I did hang in there and did great.
On the way home we stopped at The Crab Shack for dinner. I had crayfish/crawfish for the first time. I actually liked them. They were much cheaper than lobster, but taste about the same!
Tomorrow we arrive in St. Augustine, Florida, the oldest city in the U.S.
