Tetons -Mama Moose and Her Calf

Sadly, we had to leave Yellowstone today, but we were “MovinOn” to our next adventure. Our views along the way…

A short video to take in the panoramic view of the Grand Tetons from the large vehicle pullout for viewing.

National Museum of Wildlife Art off on the right. Captured a couple shots of some statues, but we did not stop.

Jackson, Wyoming

We pulled into the Virginian RV Park in Jackson, Wyoming. This park tied with the KOA right outside Glacier NP for the most expensive night stays ($160 a night)! Location! Location! Location!! Was a nice pull-thru with 50 amp. 🙂 Amenities at their lodge next door were available for us.

We went for a drive into Grand Teton NP via Hwy 22 and Wilson Rd- specifically to see if any moose might be out grazing prior to sunset. This is where the park told us to go.

We first came across a herd of elk.  We saw one bull with this herd. His harem was a bit further from us than the bull.  We didn’t stay too long, since we had moose on our mind, and this wasn’t likely to equate to our bull elk experience in Yellowstone a couple days ago.

OMG —a moose!

One …no. There are two!! A mama and her calf!

As we stood quietly enjoying this experience, we were pleasantly surprised as they both continued moving toward us! Very special.

Once we felt we had “enough” pictures and videos, we headed in further in hopes of coming across a bull moose – or two. It is the beginning of rut (mating season)!  But no luck tonight. Still a wonderful day!
