Star Valley Ranch, WY

While our Zion National Park reservations were set, we were able to adjust our travel days from Jackson Hole, Wyoming to Zion for a quick visit with Janice and Joe Morris at Star Valley Ranch RV Park. Joe and Janice live here mid-May thru about mid-October on a site they own. The views all around the park are absolutely gorgeous.

Joe met us. He arranged for us to have some decent pickleball with a couple of his friends at 1 PM. Since we arrived and were parked by 11am and hadn’t played any pickleball recently, we thought it would be a good idea to do a little warmup prior to the 1pm play. We were careful not to push it, considering the heat and high altitude, so we went back to Vinny to chill and have lunch before meeting back up at the courts at 1.

Barry and I had so much fun playing several competitive games with Joe, Janice, Travis, and a couple other friends. Sky Valley Ranch has 12 great courts.

Joe and Janice took us out to eat at Juan’s Tacos.

It was so nice to have a chance to just visit with Janice and Joe! Up until now our interactions were short, polite pleasantries around the pickleball courts during our winter at CVR in Yuma.

It was pretty funny to discover that Joe and I are in total agreement when it comes to bananas. What ones are perfection, what can be tolerated, and which ones will never pass our lips. LOL

I was excited for our after dinner plans of playing games! Joe and Janice have a really nice setup on their patio. We shared plenty of laughs up to this time, but game time brought it to a whole new level!

Janice and Joe introduced us to “Liars Dice” game and “Fill or Bust”

We are so glad we were able to make the stop at Star Valley Ranch. We are grateful for the time we had to get to know both Joe and Janice better. So cool to find out that they enjoy playing games. We plan to have a game night at our place when we are all back at CVR.

SEPTEMBER 10, 2023
Today we drove to Provo, Utah – Elks Lodge RV. Joe told us to pay attention when we pass through the small town of Afton, Wyoming. The antler arch that spans across the entire highway is the World’s Largest Elkhorn arch! It is 75 feet wide and 18 feet tall (all the way across the top), which allows high-profile vehicles to easily pass under it.

The arch was started in 1958. It consists of over 3,000 elk antlers and weighs more than 15-tons just by itself. The wooden sculpture of two-life-size male elk in a mating battle was added in the early 2000’s.

Additional views of the drive to Provo, Utah.

We had a nice, quiet night at the Elks Lodge RV – Provo Utah. We parked right next to their small Veteran’s Memorial Park.

Tomorrow we arrive at Zion National Park!
