We arrived at Lynne & Eric’s on July 1. It was a very peaceful week! Lynne and I got some much valued girl-time. I really appreciated having this one-on-one time to reconnect. I have missed my dear friend!
Saturday Eric and I canoed down Spring Creek. We had a few iffy moments and quite a few scratches from low branches, but we made it to the “pullout spot” much faster than expected, so we decided to run the creek again. After all, now we knew what to do to conquer a couple of those fast turns. We did conquer and even kept going. Eric told Lynne we were “going to the park”. Nice, wide and straight stretches, but the rapid areas were great! Unfortunately, there was no “park”. What we came up on was a dam. Damn….start back paddling to get to the side ! We grabbed tall weeds and I climbed out over some rocks. Eric tossed the strap to me so I could secure it under a rock so he could get out, but not lose the canoe! We had to get ourselves and the canoe through 2-3 ft high grass, get to the road for Lynne to find us. Thankfully, Eric pulled the canoe behind him which provided me a nice path. After all…who knows what could be in such tall grass! The area was fenced in, but we spied an opening. We weren’t close to the road yet when we saw Lynne drive by. She didn’t see us so I just yelled out “LYNNE!!!! LYNNE!!!”. Next thing we saw her coming back. She heard my call. What a fun day!! Thank you, Eric!!
Together the four of us played several games of cribbage and Sequence over the week we were there. The boys skunked us once in Sequence, so a rematch will be in our future. š
