Today was my artsy day at the rally. I went to the watercolor postcard activity in the morning. It was pretty cool. Loni had more than enough postcard-sized watercolor paper already taped onto a board for each of us. Loni walked everyone through step by step to make a sunset sky with a silhouetted cactus or two, and mountain/rocks.
When we took the masking tape off we saw that these were actual watercolor postcards by Strathmore. How cool! These could be fun to make along our travels. Would I though? I was glad I attended this activity.
Late that afternoon I went to the rock painting activity. You were supposed to come with a rock and an idea. I selected a couple rocks along my way, but had not given subject matter any thought yet. Everyone was getting situated and selecting paint colors when I arrived.
Unlike the earlier watercolor activity/class where everyone followed step by step instruction that resulted in the same basic sunset painting, everyone here did their own thing. Karen, who set up this activity, and provided the paints and brushes, is an extremely talented artist! I enjoyed looking at some of her work.
Since I wasn’t exactly prepared, instead of doing another sunset, I decided to do a Sedona-like desert scene.
