May 1, 2022, our CVR neighbors, Donna and Larry, who live right next door to us tied the knot! They are an amazing, couple. CVR is extremely lucky to have them as full time residents let alone for all that they do for the park!
We’ve teased Donna and Larry over the last year about selecting the lot RIGHT NEXT to us when they had the entire back section of lots from which to choose for an incoming house that they bought. LOL They have been awesome neighbors, so we were delighted that we were still “home” and able to attend their wedding.
The start of their day:
The entire wedding and receptions was so much more than I expected. The atmosphere was completely loving and supportive of these two special people. It felt wonderful just being here!
This glass heart was so cool. Everyone attending signed a small wooden heart, and put it in the opening at the top of the large heart.
Donna loves gnomes, so this set of a bride and groom was perfect, on the table with the glass heart, and made me smile.
Donna totally transformed the Recreational Hall with the help of Bonnie, Larry, Marcia, Jan, and others! Every round table was dressed with a beautiful tablecloth and runner, but the chairs were what totally took it to a magical level. Each chair had a complete, floor-length, white cloth cover with a beautifully-tied, blue bow around the back of the chair.
The ceiling was adorned with really cool “bubble lights”. Picture does not do them justice.
AND HERE COMES THE BRIDE!
Donna married her Prince–literally–Larry Prince Olesky! All friends and family were so happy for Larry and Donna.
Watch Mr & Mrs Larry Olesky dance down the aisle as husband and wife!
It was now time to celebrate. They provided a fabulous dinner for everyone attending. The fried chicken was amazing, as was the spinach salad. Wine was brought to each table, both red and white, and they remained supplied for the duration of the dinner and the dancing that followed.
TOASTS:
The WEDDING CAKE TABLE – and the CUTTING of the CAKE:
Our table consisted of: Lynn and Duke, Mike and Becky Buc, Dottie and Kevin Truelove, and Barry and me. We’ve visited with Lynn & Duke previously in the pool, and Dottie and I are pickleball addicts, but we’ve never really been around Mike and Becky till today. We appreciated the opportunity to get to know them a little bit today. Mike brought one of his personal bottles of red wine for our table. It wasn’t long till Mike went back home for another bottle (or two?). Barry also ran back to our place and grabbed two of our reds to contribute. We did NOT drink all of that! We all had a great time.
Family:
Larry was genuinely touched that so many from his family came to share this with him. Donna was easily embraced immediately into the Olesky family. Here are just a few pictures of moments with family.
CVR Friends: Just a few of those attending from CVR
First Dance: “At Last”
Donna and Larry’s first dance as husband and wife was special to Barry and me because we had the same song, “At Last” for our first dance on the beach in Jamaica at our wedding! Perfect song!
And so the dancing began…Feeling no pain– Mike gave each song his all. He was so into it that Marilyn P asked him if he felt a bit of a breeze! LOL…Mike had split his shorts open in the back. He returned to our table and sat down. We knew nothing till Marilyn came over. We all were laughing. The word was out. Mike got up to make a quick dash home to change. On his way he shared a view of his split shorts with us…Not exactly what I was expecting!
Additional dancing:
The Chicken Dance. First time I’ve done this one. Super easy and great for large group involvement.
Enjoying a little “Sweet Caroline” with Becky Buc before she got called away.
Everyone loves a little “Electric Slide”
BOWLING! What???
Mike Buc brought up the idea of black light/neon bowling after the dancing. Donna loved the idea. Many were up for the idea. Mike and Marcia made a call to Vicky and she OK’d opening the bowling alley for up to two hours. It was awesome. 14 of us bowled, and about 8 others came to watch and socialize. What a perfect way to end the festivities for Donna & Larry. Donna LOVES bowling!
Most of the pictures within this blog were taken by either Mike Buc or Jeanne Albers. Thank you for capturing such memorable moments.
You are so talented Nancy! This was great. It was like being at the wedding all over again. Donna and Larry are such a wonderful couple.
