A New Community Home

We arrived at Carefree Village Resort in Yuma, AZ about 5:30 pm on September 25. We got set up easily in #34, a north facing site. . Ah–it feels good to be here! This will be our “home” base community. Our new manufactured home is scheduled to arrive Oct 22, but will be another 4-6 weeks till all is ready for us to take possession. It will be a busy and expensive winter for us as we get our new home furnished.

Even though we don’t have a dog, we were impressed with CVR’s two dog parks along the south wall. Each separate park has a perimeter dirt trail or track around the landscaped area to run with your dog. Inside the east end of the track is a fenced off-leash area for dogs. The dog run and park on the southeast section even has an amazing dog wash setup! How cool is that!?!

We went to the pool about 3:00. It was 107 degrees out, but it didn’t feel like that at the pool. The shade over part of the pool probably helped significantly with that. Belinda and Jerry (#411) were in the pool when we arrived. We thoroughly enjoyed talking with them. They are new homeowners as well. They are currently in the process of moving into their home. We actually saw their home brought in last May when we were here making our decisions. I remembered it because we both chose the same exterior colors for our homes. I’m sure we will be talking with them a lot since they have about a 3-month head start when it comes to getting things done such as where to shop for decent furniture, costs and choices for carport screens, landscaping, etc. As Belinda and Jerry were leaving, they turned on the pool waterfalls for us. The waterfalls are so cool! They give a rather nice water massage on the back and shoulders. It was also very refreshing on my head. I convinced Barry to try it. We had a ball! We felt like little kids!

We continued to use the pool in the late afternoon each day, we even spent 10-15 minutes in the hot tub, too! So this seemed totally bizarre to us, and messed with our brains. How can anyone use a true hot tub in 100+ degree weather!?!? But it felt great. We actually got chilled after relaxing in our inflatable pool chairs in the swimming pool with a slight breeze. Even though the temperature was around 105, the breeze felt chilly when wet! We quickly transferred to spa and thoroughly enjoyed the warmth and the jets! I think most of our Washington family and friends will just have to be here to experience this themselves to trust we haven’t lost of minds. 🙂

Pickleball is slowing starting up here. Our first morning, Mike A showed up to learn the game. Barry and I began teaching him how to play. After a game or two of two on one, Rob and Rich showed up, and we started regular doubles play. It hasn’t been the pickleball I was playing in California, but it has been fun and will continue to get better as more people start arriving for the winter. I look forward to a good three hours of play most mornings, and maybe an hour or two some evenings.

Everyone has beens so welcoming! Cheryl, Vicki and Bill are our new BB’s (Biden Buddies)! Nice to have a safe zone. 🙂
