Arlington National Cemetery – A Moving Visit

We walked to the Arlington National Cemetery from the Lincoln Memorial. As we walked across the Arlington Memorial Bridge my memory of the JFK funeral procession that was televised decades ago, immediately came to life as we walked the same route. There are two statues that flank the start of the bridge honoring deceased veterans.… Continue reading Arlington National Cemetery – A Moving Visit

DC-4: U.S. Capitol Building Tour

We took the subway to a station that was closer to the Capitol Building and Senate/House Office Buildings since we needed to report to the LONGWORTH House Office Building where our Florida Representative Kat Cammack has her office. None of the Senators or Representatives are currently in DC, but Congressional staff and pages are here.… Continue reading DC-4: U.S. Capitol Building Tour

DC-3 Natural History Museum

Smithsonian Museum of Natural History was our only Smithsonian museum for today. It is a huge one with something for everyone! We needed one just for fun. Just entering the museum evokes entertaining images from “The Night At the Museum” movies! The extinct mega-toothed shark was the biggest predatory fish that ever lived. That open jaw… Continue reading DC-3 Natural History Museum

DC Day 1-b: Smithsonian American History Museum

Leaving the Holocaust Museum I knew we needed something more fun for the remainder of the day. We went to the American History Museum. While not all American History is “fun”, this museum had some fun, nostalgic displays. I love the above picture of 4 former US Presidents together. A time when they respected their… Continue reading DC Day 1-b: Smithsonian American History Museum

DC – Day 1: Smithsonian Holocaust Museum

The train system was easy peasy to use. We usually used the Archives/Navy Memorial stop to and from the College Park, Maryland Metro Station. There is a red Circulator bus that routinely runs a “loop route” (one direction only) around the National Mall and out to the monument areas and Union Station. Cost $1, although… Continue reading DC – Day 1: Smithsonian Holocaust Museum
